Munro worked with Kier Construction to provide two new build SEND schools in Chelmsford; Sir Geoff Hurst Academy and The Hawthorns.
Sir Geoff Hurst Academy is a single storey building offering 64 spaces with provision for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). The all-through school will admit children aged 7-16 and consists of 9 classrooms, with each class being made up of 6-8 pupils. A two-storey building also provides residential accommodation for up to 15 students, providing a 24 hour independent learning curriculum.
The Hawthorns SEND school will cater to children aged 7-16 with complex autistic needs. The single storey building will provide 70 places in classes with a maximum of 5 pupils. A two-storey residential block will provide accommodation for 10 pupils.
