Working with Main Contractor Barnes Construction, Munro Building Services were successfully awarded the MEP Contract at Kings College to install a new PV array on the chapel roof.
Munro worked with the College to develop a strategy to decarbonise and reduce the College's carbon emissions by more than 23 tonnes each year.
The College's ambitions of applying PV to a heritage building whilst maintaining the Chapel's distinguishing appearance was critical from the onset of the project.
The panels were installed as part of the renovation of the 1950s lead roof of the Chapel, which was no longer watertight.
The College recognised a once-in-a-generation opportunity to install the PVs as part of the re-roofing works with the final installed PV array generating 133KWP across 635m2.
This project is one of Cambridgeshire's most ambitious steps into decarbonisation and will set the standard for upcoming projects in the area.
