Kettles Yard Art Gallery and House, Cambridge

M&E Refurbishment & New Build - Two Stage Procurement

This project consisted of both a refurbishment of the existing site and a new build wing, combined, this created a four-floor education wing, improved exhibition galleries, a new foyer/entrance area and a café.

The focus of the project was to combine the building works into a holistic scheme that would improve the space for visitors and diversify the audience.

Munro Building Services provided services for audio visual equipment to help make the gallery more interactive and appealing to a wider audience.

Another focus of the project was to improve accessibility around the gallery and new café as well as provide environmentally controlled areas for the galleries to preserve the right environment for the curated items.

Munro achieved this by installing a full BMS system to control the temperature and humidity, as well as the ventilation system and air source heat pumps for the heating and cooling, humidification and dehumidification.

Due to the air source heating and ventilation being exceedingly efficient, alternative sources of energy such as PV were not required.

This green project had its challenges but it was exhilarating to complete works on this locally renowned building.
