Chelmsford Team Secures £5.5m Leisure Project with Kier

The team at Munro’s Chelmsford office in Essex have recently secured a £5.5m contract with Kier Construction at the new Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre, right in the heart of the City of Chelmsford. This new building, together with the refurbishment of the existing ice rink and sports hall will provide a fantastic leisure hub to the ever improving city centre, with greater connectivity to the new Riverside developments including the new luxury retail therapy at Chelmsford’s Bond Street.
The new build project will feature modern mechanical and electrical installations synonymous with the investment made by Chelmsford City Council and part funded from Sport England. Further details about the project can be read about in our Riverside Ice & Leisure case study.
Improving Community Leisure Facilities for All
Chelmsford City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor Julia Jeapes, said in a press release for the council, “I am delighted to see construction work of our new leisure complex begin. Chelmsford’s newest leisure centre will be an incredible addition to the ever-improving city centre. People heading into Chelmsford for a day out can now enjoy an abundance of shopping, dining, parks and activities for the whole family.”
Due to open in January 2019, Chelmsford’s Riverside Ice & Leisure is sure to become an important landmark for Chelmsford and help the city’s growth. Munro are proud to be bringing something to the community that will really enhance the area and with the site being just opposite our Regina Road offices, this is a project that will be close to Munro’s heart.
