2017 has been a ground-breaking year for Cambridge construction, as we introduce more and more stunning buildings to our city’s skyline. One building in particular has been making the headlines and that is the £15m project, known as “Europe’s First Ever Eco-Mosque.”

The team at Munro’s Chelmsford office in Essex have recently secured a £5.5m contract with Kier Construction at the new Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre, right in the heart of the City of Chelmsford. The new build project will feature modern mechanical and electrical installations synonymous with the investment made by Chelmsford City Council and part funded from Sport England.

Munro Building Services is currently providing mechanical and electrical installations working with main contractor VINCI Construction UK. Nuffield Health will provide the day to day management, operating the facility on behalf of the client BioMed Realty.

This year Munro have been involved in a multitude of education sector projects, but one which has stuck out as particularly pleasing for our Chelmsford, Essex branch is Whitehall Park School in Islington, North London. A new build project which is the new home for local primary school students and their teachers.
Since setting up in 2014 the school has faced several challenges, primarily resulting from the fact that the school had been in five temporary sites during its very short life and during the infancy of establishing itself as a new school.

That is exactly what some of our M&E colleagues at our Cambridge and Chelmsford office did earlier this year, when they took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Named after the biologist, entrepreneur and former senior bursar who founded the Cambridge Science Park, the John Bradfield Centre will support high growth businesses, encourage entrepreneurship and function as a vibrant centre for research and development which offers incubator space for businesses in their early stages.

Munro Building Services provided the full mechanical and electrical installation on this project, working alongside Logan Construction and Essex Police & Kent Police Estates Services design team. The first phase of construction began in June 2015 where the main station was refurbished. Following this, the new build second phase began which is now home to the new 30 cell custody suite.
